Patrick Bamford may never start again for Leeds United after major update

Patrick Bamford has been at Leeds United since 2018, when he moved from Middlesbrough.

Since then, he has gone from strength to strength and has been part of the team that got promoted to the Premier League, spent three seasons there and got relegated.

Now, he is once again part of the side expected to return to the English top flight.

However, it remains to be seen whether or not he’ll be there at Elland Road next season.

Leeds United can look to cash in on Bamford this summer

Bamford is currently 31 and has another year left on his contract at Leeds.

Given how erratic his fitness has been this season, it would make very little sense to have him at Elland Road in the Premier League.

The English top flight is extremely physical and fast-paced and he’s past his peak – so it would be a struggle for him to adapt.

Leeds are also going to need to spend a lot of money and spend it wisely, so parting ways with the English striker makes a lot of sense.

They can recoup some money from his sale as Championship sides or other clubs in Europe might be willing to take a punt on him.

He will also be off the wage bill – another advantage of cashing in on his services at the end of the season.

Evan Ferguson could be Bamford’s replacement at Leeds

Leeds are understood to be keeping tabs on Brighton striker Evan Ferguson ahead of a potential summer move, according to TEAMtalk.

The Republic of Ireland international is currently on loan at West Ham and is not expected to be signed permanently at the end of the season.

Should Leeds succeed in bringing him to Elland Road, it could be curtains for Bamford’s time at the club.

He’s made 13 league appearances this term and not a single start so it’s fair to argue that he may have made his last ever start at the club’s home ground.
