Patrick Bamford exit: Leeds transfer claim made live on Sky Sports News

Sky Sports presenter Julian Warren has said he “wouldn’t put it past” Wrexham to sign Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford in January.

The one-time England international has had hardly any game time this season with both Mateo Joseph and Joel Piroe being Daniel Farke’s preferred options.

The Englishman has been mooted with an Elland Road exit since his return from injury and now that the transfer window is open, the rumours will no doubt start to fly once again [Leedsunited.news, 23 December].

Speaking live on Sky Sports News (1 January, 14:55pm), Warren shared his thoughts on Bamford’s potential departure.

“Wrexham have successfully tempted players from lower divisions haven’t they so you wouldn’t put it past them to look at someone like Patrick Bamford but we’ll keep an eye on that,” he said.

Leeds United need to get rid of Patrick Bamford soon

The 31-year-old has almost become synonymous with the West Yorkshire outfit during his time with the Whites and while his presence would no doubt be missed among the camp, it feels like he doesn’t have a place in the squad at the moment.

Bamford’s injuries coupled with the impressive form of Piroe recently haven’t likely helped matters much regarding his play time.

However, there have been times this term when the aforementioned duo haven’t been at their best and Farke has still chosen against starting Bamford.

However, now that the January window is open, it feels like the ideal time for the Whites to try and find a suitor for the striker to get his wage slip off of their books.

If they managed to do that, they’d have some free funds to sanction a new arrival in January which could help them in their quest for Premier League promotion this season.
