Pascal Struijk in ‘Ongoing’ talks with Club Brugge about transfer away from Leeds United
Club Brugge have entered talks with the representatives of Leeds defender Pascal Struijk about a summer transfer, according to Sacha Tavolieri.
Writing on his personal Twitter account (28 July), the reliable transfer journalist reports that the Belgian club are keen to sign the Whites ace as a replacement for Abakar Sylla and have made his arrival a “priority”.
Talks are “ongoing” with the player’s reps to see if a move is possible, which comes just days after the player said he had no intention of leaving Elland Road this summer.
“Club Brugge runs on Pascal Struijk! To replace Abakar Sylla, the Blauw & Zwart pointed to the name of the Belgian-Dutch left-handed central defender of Leeds United,” he wrote.
“Ongoing discussions with player representatives. The Club has made it its priority.”
Surely not
Brugge might well be playing European football this season, but there’s nobody out there other than Club Brugge fans who would believe this is a step up the footballing ladder.
Struijk penned a new contract in December 2022 and is now tied to Leeds until 2027, and recently stated that he had never planned to leave the club following our relegation to the Championship.

The defender is clearly part of Daniel Farke’s plans for the new season, and his ability to play at both centre-back and left-back make him a great asset to a squad that will be pushing for promotion back to the Premier League at the first opportunity.
With no release clause in his deal it would likely take a big bid at this stage to see him leave, and Brugge just don’t have the kind of money to compete.
If Struijk is to leave now it would be a real shock and a real kick in the shins to the manager, who has surely been preparing for having him around.
