Oliver Skipp a big fan of Daniel Farke as Tottenham ace could follow Joe Rodon to Leeds United

Leeds United want to add a second Tottenham player in Oliver Skipp but the midfielder doesn’t want to drop down to the Championship, GiveMeSport reports.

According to the outlet’s website on 1 July the 23-year-old is an Elland Road target to join Joe Rodon in moving to West Yorkshire from Spurs this summer, with the Welshman signing permanently as Archie Gray went the opposite direction.

Ange Postecoglou and company aren’t looking to let the midfielder leave as he is registered as a homegrown player to help fill the club’s quota and is seen as a useful back-up in North London.

However, sources have reportedly indicated that a move could yet materialise based on Skipp’s relationship with Whites boss Daniel Farke, having thrived under the German on loan previously at Norwich.

He is said to be a “big admirer” of the Leeds United manager, potentially leaving the door ajar for a deal to be done, although it may be far more likely in a year’s time if Farke can take his side back to the Premier League.

Archie Gray could block Oliver Skipp game time at Spurs after Leeds United exit

Rodon had other options within the Premier League but wanted to return and play under Farke in the Championship [Alasdair Gold, 1 July], so Skipp’s attitude might change.

From a Spurs perspective it is difficult to see them allowing it thanks to the homegrown quota issue, unless he isn’t set to be used at all or good money was put on the table.

Gray’s departure is a major blow to the Whites hierarchy and the fanbase, but his arrival could help push Skipp towards the exit if he feels his pathway is blocked since the teenager surely hasn’t been bought to sit in the stands or on the bench.

The Spurs man was tipped as a dream signing for Farke a year ago by Phil Hay [Square Ball, 21 July] but was seen as too expensive and too heavily involved at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

But he only started seven Premier League games last term under Postecoglou and has Yves Bissouma, Rodrigo Bentancur, Pape Matar Sarr, and now Gray to contend with for minutes.

It would help further soften the blow of the latter’s exit if Farke were to get a second favourite in, but the fact that Skipp wasn’t included in Gray and Rodon moves suggests it isn’t likely at this stage, and may have to wait until late in the window at best.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are now set to sell a senior striker and a defender after losing Gray.
