Norwich City circumstances could complicate Jonathan Rowe transfer to Leeds United
Leeds United pursuing a transfer for Jonathan Rowe could be hampered by Norwich City’s previous business this summer, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
The YEP reported on 7 August that the Canaries have already seen forward Christos Tzolis join Fortuna Dusseldorf, and then Club Brugge, for an initial fee of just £3 million, with Gabriel Sara also departing.
Star midfielder Gabriel Sara had also been chased by the Whites before his switch to Galatasaray was sealed [Sunday Mirror, 4 August], with Tzolis and new Leeds target Rowe scoring 47 league goals between them last season.
Norwich are therefore set to drive a hard bargain for Rowe, with the YEP’s report stating that despite the winger having just a year left on his contract, being seen to receive “a good deal” for the 21-year-old will be paramount for the club’s PR.
Leeds United could be set for lengthy Jonathan Rowe transfer saga
The sale of Summerville for a reported – despite the Whites’ wishes to keep the fee undisclosed – £25m, should give Farke plenty of financial leeway when it comes to finding a replacement.
Rowe signed his first professional contract during Farke’s time in East Anglia, and could be keen to reunite with the manager who was sacked before the youngster got a chance to make his debut.
An initial bid of £7m for the winger has reportedly been tabled to Norwich [John Percy, 5 August], but like the £3.4m offered to Koln for Dejan Ljubicic, it has gone no further at the time of writing.

There’s no suggestion that the Peacocks won’t re-enter the fray with an improved offer, and with the new Championship season just days away, this is a transfer they must complete as quickly as they can.
The closer the 30 August deadline approaches, the more nervy Elland Road will become if new faces aren’t brought through the doors, and with clubs knowing United have money in the bank [Joe Donnohue, 18 July], this certainly isn’t the time to be seeking cut-price bargains on the Championship’s best young players.
In other Leeds news, the club are confident that civil disruption in the UK will not affect their opening-day clash with Portsmouth.
