No surprise if Ethan Amapdu transfer now on cards at Leeds United
Ethan Ampadu’s impressive season at Leeds United is likely to generate interest in his services after the Whites lost the playoff final, according to the Daily Mail.
The report on 27 May reveals that Leeds owe £189.7million in transfer installments this summer.
The Whites’ 1-0 defeat by Southampton at Wembley on 26 May means the club must now sell players in order to remain compliant with spending rules.
How big a blow would losing Ethan Ampadu be for Leeds United?
Ampadu is one of Leeds’ most important players and – in spite of the club’s need to sell – should not be viewed as a saleable asset but rather a cornerstone around which a promotion-winning season can be built.
No player played more minutes across all competitions for Leeds in 2023/24 than Ampadu, who racked up a whopping 4,860 minutes of game time.
The 23-year-old is undoubtedly head coach Daniel Farke’s most trusted player – and it is a faith well-earned.

Having cemented himself as a crucial cog in the German tactician’s machine as a holding midfielder, Ampadu’s versatility was called upon as he dropped into the centre of defence to fill the gap left when Pascal Struijk was ruled out for the season, performing equally capably and often sporting the captain’s armband.
If Leeds can keep hold of Ampadu for another year, they should.
