Leeds United have reportedly identified Lecce striker Nikola Krstovic as one of their striker targets for the summer transfer window.

Despite Joel Piroe's exemplary Championship campaign, which saw him win the Golden Boot, the Whites need firepower in the final third to give themselves the best chance to avoid relegation.

Daniel Farke has struggled in the Premier League previously and will be keen on avoiding the same mistakes.

Krstovic admits a transfer is likely this summer

After helping Lecce avoid relegation this past season, Krstovic is currently focused on his upcoming international matches with Montenegro.

After these games, he plans to consult with those closest to him to determine his next career move.

He indicated that he is leaning toward leaving Lecce, suggesting a transfer is likely this summer.

This comes as Leeds United are linked with a move for Krstovic, along with Inter Milan, Roma and Napoli.

He said: "I am thinking about the next matches with the national team, then I will talk to the people closest to me and decide what is best for me. At the moment, I am closer to leaving the club."

Leeds United must bring Krstovic to Elland Road

At 25, the Lecce striker represents a smart signing for the Whites due to his youth, proven goal-scoring ability and affordability compared to older, high-wage targets like Callum Wilson or Jamie Vardy.

His 12 goals and five assists in 38 appearances for Lecce during the 2024-25 Serie A season demonstrate his capacity to deliver in a competitive league, helping his team narrowly avoid relegation.

Krstovic’s age aligns with Leeds’ preference for younger players with potential for growth, offering long-term value as they aim for Premier League stability under Farke.

His lower wage demands make him a financially sensible option, especially given Leeds’ £59million transfer advantage and the need to comply with PSR limits.

While his international duties with Montenegro may delay negotiations, Krstovic’s profile as a dynamic, goal-scoring striker makes him an ideal fit to bolster Leeds’ attacking options for the upcoming season.
