Nico Elvedi transfer stance emerges as Leeds United eye transfer
Nico Elvedi only wants to join Leeds United if they are in the Premier League, says Ben Jacobs.
The Whites have shown an interest in the Borussia Mönchengladbach centre-back as a £10million move has been eyed at Elland Road [GiveMeSport].
It appears that the Switzerland international doesn’t want to play in the Championship as Jacobs reported to talkSPORT (2 January) and could delay a move to Yorkshire.
He said: “They [Leeds United] still want a centre-back who can play right back as well. Nico Elvedi is a player they love but the player only wants to join if they are in the Premier League.”
Nico Elvedi January deal looks unlikely at Leeds United
The Whites sit top of the Championship as it stands despite a frustrating 1-1 draw against Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday (1 January).
As a result, promotion to the Premier League is a realistic goal and could open doors to bringing new stars in during the winter transfer window.
Elevdi appears to be a dream target for Farke and Co. who would certainly represent a real coup given his top-level experience with Mönchengladbach.
The 28-year-old has made over 300 appearances for the Bundesliga side and has featured more than 50 times for his country, proving his quality over a sustained period.

As a result, there is no doubt that the centre-back would improve the squad at Elland Road but a deal may be put off until the summer, if a Premier League place is earned.
It could prove to be a difficult second half of the season but with promotion a clear aim, new signings will be needed to help push the Whites over the line.
