Newcastle United ready to spend majority of budget on Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville

Newcastle United are expected to spend the majority of their budget on a new winger with Leeds star Crysencio Summerville a target, according to David Ornstein.

Writing for The Athletic (18 June), it is reported that the Magpies’ prime target for the position is Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise, but they expect him to move elsewhere instead.

They look ready to spend most of their budget on the position and Summerville is also an option alongside West Ham star Jarrod Bowen and Chelsea’s Noni Madueke as alternatives.

Leeds United hope for Crysencio Summerville bidding war

Brighton became the first team to make their move for the Dutch winger on Monday (Fabrizio Romano, 17 June), but Liverpool and Chelsea are also said to be interested in a move for the 22-year-old.

But with Newcastle now also in the mix for a deal, the Whites will be hoping for a bidding war to drive the price up and ensure that they receive absolute top dollar for their top asset.

After receiving investment from Red Bull the club now feel that they are in a much stronger position [YEP, 17 June] to deal with interest in their top players and aren’t in a position where they need to sell.

Crysencio Summerville has finally left Leeds United, joining West Ham

In an ideal world, they would find a way to keep Summerville at Elland Road, but the chances of that are slim after his performances in the Championship last season and the club’s failure to earn promotion.

If Newcastle are willing to splash the cash then it would put them in a great position to get a deal done, but it remains to be seen if they’ll prioritise the move ahead of the other targets they have.

In other Leeds news, the club may be forced to wait to seal a new Premier League loan deal.
