New interest from Holland in Crysencio Summerville, Leeds don’t want to lose him

There is new interest in Crysencio Summerville from an unnamed club in Holland as the chase picks up for the Leeds United winger, says Phil Hay.

The 20-year-old has been targeted by Hamburg for some time, with Hamburger Morgenpost calling him their “dream player”.

The man standing in the way of a deal with the German side so far has been Whites manager Marcelo Bielsa, who Hay still reports does not want to let the Dutchman leave.

But as Kicker report that negotiations have hit a snag with Hamburg, and demand also present in England, The Athletic’s United journalist now adds interest from Summerville’s homeland to the mix.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Hay added a message onto the end of a point about a replacement being needed if the ex-Feyenoord man decides to leave, saying: “[A] fair bit of European interest in Summerville, not least in Germany and Holland, but Bielsa doesn’t want to lose him.”

Stalemate?

The higher the interest in Summerville the better for Leeds if they can drive up a loan fee through some competition.

The manager seems intent on keeping hold of him, but a temporary move surely makes the most sense at this point.

The attacker has been at Elland Road for a year and a half now yet has only made a handful of appearances, and with Raphinha, Jack Harrison, Daniel James, and to a lesser extent Rodrigo, all available to fill the wide spots, there doesn’t seem to be many opportunities available.

He is still young so he has time to develop into a useful asset in Yorkshire, and if the mooted exit for Rodrigo to Barcelona (Sport Witness) materialises there may be a future role for him to take up.

Summerville has experience of playing in Holland and with interest now materialising from there it could be the best option for him to get some games in by operating in an environment where he is comfortable.

Currently his career is stalling, and the faith of the manager is nice, but without actually playing him it could be counterproductive.

In other Leeds United news, the club have been told to make a big offer for this PL attacking target.
