Nadiem Amiri informs Leeds United of transfer decision after offer submitted – Sky Sports Germany

Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Nadiem Amiri has rejected a move to Leeds United, according to Florian Plettenberg.

The Sky Sports Germany journalist reported on Twitter on Thursday morning (24 August) that Leeds had submitted an offer to sign the 26-year-old German international.

However, it is understood that Amiri has informed Leeds on Thursday he has no intention of moving to Elland Road because he wants to join Ligue 1 giants Marseille instead.

Have Leeds got any new players?

It doesn’t feel like many players have been signed at Elland Road this summer.

Even though the transfer window closes in just over a week, the main stories at Leeds still seem to be about players potentially leaving.

We’ve had a huge spate of exits from the Yorkshire club since being relegated to the Championship but the only signings have so far been Ethan Ampadu, Karl Darlow, Sam Byram and Joe Rodon.

Tyler Roberts, Adam Forshaw, Joel Robles, Rodrigo and Tyler Adams are among the senior players to have left permanently while seven members of the first-team squad last season have left on loan.

It’s not enough and it looks as though Daniel Farke can now cross Amiri off his list too.

It was an ambitious move by Leeds to try and sign the five-times Germany international.

The former Hoffenheim midfielder played 36 times in all competitions for Leverkusen last season with five of those appearances coming in the Champions League and a further six coming in the knock-out stages of the Europa League.

He’s not going to go from the Champions League to the Championship and who can blame him?
