Leeds United are among a number of clubs who are reportedly interested in signing Levanta midfielder Jose Campana.
Spanish news outlet El Desmarque has reported that Leeds, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Everton, Villarreal, Sevilla and Atletico Madrid are all keen on the 27-year-old.
It is understood that Campana’s preference is to join Sevilla but it seems that the Spanish midfielder would be a dream player for Marcelo Bielsa in the Premier League next season.
Every Leeds fan knows that Bielsa is a man who loves consistency and loves to pick from a small group of senior players and, as a result, needs players in his side who are versatile enough to play in multiple roles.
Campana made 37 La Liga appearances for Levante this season, playing in a number of different roles across the midfield.
As shown on the WyScout website, Campana’s heatmap suggests how versatile he is with him playing on both wings – although more on the left – in attacking and defensive roles. He’s also played a lot in a left-sided central role.
Stats by WyScout suggest just how versatile Campana is.
In the 2019/20 La Liga season, the former Spain Under-21 international averaged 50.29 passes per 90 minutes, completing 81.1 per cent of them. Pretty standard numbers for a midfielder but he does a lot more than just pass the ball along.
Campana also averaged 4.64 interceptions, 7.08 recoveries – with 40 per cent of them in the opposition’s half of the pitch – and won 41.7 per cent of loose-ball duels.
He can more than hold his own defensively while the 27-year-old also offered 1.14 shots at goal, 1.94 crosses, 3.26 dribbles and 2.49 progressive runs per 90 minutes of La Liga football.
One of Campana’s best displays for Levante this season came as they beat Barcelona 3-1 in November, with the Leeds target scoring and assisting a goal as he played on both sides of the attack in the win.

Campana has stood out for Levante when they have both been in and out of possession this season while playing in multiple roles.
It might be tough for Leeds to sign the Spaniard with El Desmarque suggesting he’s keen on a move to Sevilla but if the Whites can strike a deal, Victor Orta will definitely be in Bielsa’s good books.
In other Leeds United news, this English striker is open to joining the Whites this summer.
