MOT View: Bielsa comments on Clarke surely prove he will not be missed by Leeds
The inevitable happened for most Leeds United fans when Jack Clarke was eventually recalled by Tottenham.
It seemed strange that the 19-year-old had struggled for game time after the impact he made last season, but watching him in the under-23s at the beginning of the campaign something wasn’t clicking.
Jack Harrison, Helder Costa, and Ezgjan Alioski have all been in fine form too so chances in the first team just seemed to be getting more limited as each game passed.
Marcelo Bielsa has recently commented on the situation, and although he might have been thankful, he didn’t seem overly frustrated.
“I am very grateful to Clarke,” he told the Yorkshire Evening Post.
“He made his contribution in this part of the season. Even though I didn’t use him, in the last days, he had improved his performance.
“I thought it was unnecessary to keep him [for the final games before the window opens] if we knew he was not going to be with us.”
These comments could definitely prove that Clarke won’t be missed by Leeds, as Bielsa always had other plans to utilise other players in West Yorkshire.
Clarke has had nowhere near the same amount of impact as he had last season this year and has been replaced on the bench by Jordan Stevens in recent weeks.
Should the academy star give a similar boost to what Clarke did last season, many will certainly not remember the Tottenham youngster immediately.
The 19-year-old has gone back, and it is hard to suggest that he will be a miss given his lack of action or impact at Elland Road in this campaign.
