Milinkovic-Savic ‘makes transfer decision’ as Leeds United eye new goalkeeper

Leeds United have been linked with Torino goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic this summer.

Illan Meslier faces an uncertain future at Elland Road, given his poor performances in recent years for the Whites.

Milinkovic-Savic likely to move to Champions League club

The Athletic journalist Beren Cross was asked about reports linking Milinkovic-Savic with a move to Elland Road.

The Whites are in the market for a goalkeeper and the Serbia international has been linked with a move to the Premier League for a while.

Cross claims that the trouble for Leeds to sign him is that there will be a lot of other clubs keen on securing his services in an instant.

Napoli have also been linked with the 28-year-old and he would likely decide to move to a Champions League side if given the choice.

Cross wrote: “The trouble with him is a lot of clubs would take him in a heartbeat, but last I read, Napoli were interested. Surely he goes to a Champions League club of some description?”

Leeds United must sign Milinkovic-Savic if he fancies Premier League move

Leeds United’s Premier League status could still attract Milinkovic-Savic, despite interest from Champions League clubs.

The 6ft 8in Serbian goalkeeper, with 158 appearances and 52 clean sheets for Torino, is valued at £17million via his release clause.

To tempt him, Leeds must leverage their top-flight presence, offering a starting role and a competitive salary, higher than what he’s expected to get at Champions League clubs.

Farke should emphasise regular game time and a long-term project to establish Leeds as a Premier League force.

Acting swiftly to trigger the release clause before rivals like Napoli or Manchester City finalise deals is crucial to secure his signature.
