Midtjylland expect Jens Cajuste to leave, Leeds United at table to sign him

Midtjylland are expecting central midfielder Jens Cajuste to leave in the coming weeks amid interest from Leeds United, according to Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

Writing via his personal Twitter account on Wednesday night, Taylor reported that, as it stands, Brentford are favourites to sign Cajuste, 22, but Newcastle are the highest bidders at £13.5million.

It is understood that Leeds are also at the table to land the Sweden international while Ligue 1 club Rennes may make a fourth bid to sign him.

Get it done

Cajuste is a player who excites us.

He’s only 22-years-old but has plenty of experience of playing in Denmark’s top-flight for Midtjylland and in the Champions League.

Midtjylland’s chances of keeping hold of the five-times Sweden international are likely to have taken a blow this week too with the Danish club getting knocked out of the Champions League at the hands of PSV.

Cajuste is young, plays in a central midfield role or a deep-lying role and is definitely someone who’s got some good years ahead of him.

Leeds’ interest is understandable due to that but it’s bound to be tough to sign him.

Brentford’s owner Matthew Benham is also the majority shareholder at Midtjylland so you can see why they are favourites.

Newcastle are not as much of a threat but they’re the highest bidders and Rennes, who’ve bid three times already, are clearly super keen.

Victor Orta will need to up his game if he wants to wrap this one up.
