Michael Ball unsurprised by speculation linking Rangers ace Ryan Kent with Leeds United

Michael Ball isn’t shocked to see Leeds United being continually linked with a move for Rangers star Ryan Kent.

Earlier this week, The Athletic journalist Phil Hay wrote that Leeds could sign a new winger late in the summer transfer window and urged fans to not discount a possible move for 24-year-old Kent.

It is understood that the Whites have a long-held interest in the former Liverpool attacker.

Former Rangers and England defender Ball believes that the speculation about Kent’s future at Ibrox is a result of his fine form in Scotland.

“When you start playing for Rangers and put in performances like Ryan does, it’s no surprise that there are suitors down south,” Ball told Football Transfer Tavern.

“Week in, week out there are rumours of clubs taking him on.”

It’s possible…

Kent is someone who’s going to be linked with a move to Leeds in every single transfer window until Marcel Bielsa leaves.

He might even continue to be linked long after Bielsa is gone – who knows?

But there could be an opening for Leeds to sign the English attacker this summer if Rangers fail to make it to the Champions League group stages.

Last season, Kent was instrumental in helping the Glasgow club win the Scottish Premiership title and reach the last 16 of the Europa League.

He scored 13 goals and supplied 15 assists in 52 appearances across all competitions for the Light Blues.

He’s proven himself in Scotland and proven himself in the Europa League. The next step for him has to be to play in the Champions League group stages for Rangers or move to England and prove himself in the Premier League after failing to make the grade at Liverpool.

Kent could be open to joining us if Steven Gerrard’s side are knocked out of qualifying and as it stands, they are 2-1 down ahead of a second leg against Malmo next week.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites have made an approach to sign this forward whose value is on the rise.
