Leeds United have dismissed interest in signing Mergim Berisha, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The newspaper reported via their website on 6 January that the Whites do not plan to make a move for the Bundesliga striker despite the Daily Mail reporting that they are showing interest in him.

Daniel Farke's side insist that they expect a quiet January transfer window, thus shooting down all other links in the process.

Leeds United must back Daniel Farke to earn promotion

The news that Leeds are expecting a quiet window will, no doubt, come as a disappointment to the Whites fans.

There have been suggestions that the West Yorkshire outfit could at least bring in a new number ten to reduce the burden on Brenden Aaronson.

Berisha could have been that player, considering he is comfortable playing in a withdrawn role even as a centre-forward.

However, it remains to be seen what the Elland Road outfit's plans are since they have poured cold water over those links.

Leeds United must back Daniel Farke during this window and allow him to make the necessary signings if they want to ensure promotion this season.

The Peacocks are in the driving seat to secure one of the two automatic promotion spots in the Championship as they are currently placed atop the table.

However, they cannot rest on their laurels as third-placed Sheffield United are only a point behind them.

Fourth-placed Sunderland, meanwhile, are only three points behind.

Complacency could see Leeds slip up in the promotion race and, with 20 games left to play, they cannot afford such errors.
