Medical scheduled: Player set to agree deal until 2024 with Leeds – report

Leeds United are closing in on the signing of young Italian goalkeeper Elia Caprile, according to TuttoMercatoWeb.

The Italian news outlet claims that the Chievo shot-stopper, 18, is set to agree a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Yorkshire giants and is scheduled to have a medical this weekend.

Caprile is yet to make a senior appearance in his career so it would seem as though Leeds’ director of football Victor Orta has eyed up the Italy Under-18 international with the view to adding him as yet another foreign import in the club’s Under-23s side.

Marcelo Bielsa already has Kiko Casilla and Illan Meslier in his senior squad while Kamil Miazek has been a regular for the Under-23s this term.

Caprile must be viewed as someone who can challenge Miazek for his position as Carlos Corbran’s number one choice in between the sticks.

The Athletic journalist Phil Hay has already reported that Caprile seems to be a “good prospect” and has added weight to claims that Leeds are interested in the Chievo teenager.

It now seems as though this transfer has gone past the stage of interest though and it all seems as though the deal might be all but done if the player is on his way to England for a medical.
