Medical booked after brand new Leeds United transfer decision on Diego Llorente
Leeds United defender Diego Llorente is set to join Real Betis after arriving in Seville for a medical ahead of his transfer, according to Gonzalo Tortosa.
The El Chiringuito journalist reported on Monday (July 8) that Betis will pay £2.5million to secure the Spanish centre-back, who spent the last season on loan at Roma.
The agreement between the Whites and Betis comes after two rejected offers with the move now expected to be finalised following his medical scheduled for Tuesday 9 July.
Leeds United might benefit from Diego Llorente’s move away
Llorente’s move from Leeds to Real Betis might be just what the Whites need right now. The Spanish defender, who has landed in Seville for a medical exam, is close to finalising the move.
For Leeds, this deal brings in some much-needed cash, especially after a tough end to the season that ended in play-off heartbreak.
And, with key players like Archie Gray already sold to Tottenham Hotspur, Leeds are looking to rebuild and strengthen their squad.
Llorente’s exit also frees up space on the team and reduces their wage bill, giving the Whites more flexibility to bring in new players or focus on developing academy players.
Therefore, as the Yorkshire club looks to rebuild and bounce back, selling Llorente to Betis might just be the boost they need.
