Maximilian Wober speaks out as Leeds United radio silence emerges
Maximilian Wober has spoken out about his potential transfer move from Leeds United to Borussia Monchengladbach this summer.
According to BILD [17 June], the Bundesliga side would love to see the 26-year-old return to Germany next season, though Leeds are demanding at least £12.6million for him to leave permanently.
It is understood that Monchengladbach are hoping for the Whites to lower their price tag for the defender, who is currently away at Euro 2024 with Austria.
Speaking to BILD on Wednesday (19 June), Wober said: “At the moment there is total radio silence on both sides. I learned from Leeds that there will be talks when the European Championship is over. They want me to concentrate on Austria for the time being.
“In Gladbach, I said goodbye to everyone and thanked them for the cool year. So far, I haven’t heard anything about it.”
Maximilian Wober left in the dark over Leeds United future
Wober is another Leeds player who jumped ship after being relegated from the Premier League, though it remains to be seen whether he will be implemented back into the team at Elland Road.
The likelihood is that he will join the list of loanees set to be sold permanently, like Marc Roca to Real Betis or Robin Koch to Frankfurt, but his price tag could be an issue heading into the summer.
The centre-back featured as Austria lost 1-0 in their opening game against France on Monday 17 June, a performance that will have done his value no good as he was booked early and hooked on the hour mark.
Leeds, however, may need to think smart when it comes to the summer transfer window. There is no certainty that Joe Rodon will be at the club next season, while Liam Cooper has yet to sign a new deal.

This would leave Ethan Ampadu, a natural midfielder, an injury-prone Pascal Struijk, and an outsider in Charlie Cresswell at Daniel Farke’s disposal.
If the Whites were to keep Wober this summer, they would have an experienced defender heading into the 2024/25 campaign, having made 27 appearances in all competitions last season.
