Max Wober transfer update emerges as Leeds set to face unwanted summer dilemma

Max Wober’s Leeds United nightmare could go into the summer transfer window.

Leeds United are looking increasingly likely to stay in the Premier League this season, and the hope will be that they can secure some more arrivals in January to boost those hopes.

However, if the Whites can keep picking up points, there will be one eye on the decisions to be made in the summer as the 49ers look to consolidate this club in the top flight.

Among those decisions made will be one on the future of Wober, who is currently out on loan to Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga.

However, that is looking likely to lie with Leeds, which is something they may not have planned for.

Injury update could scupper Leeds United plans

Wober has no future at Leeds whatsoever, and that was made clear when the defender was shipped out on loan to Borussia Monchengladbach in 2023 and then to Werder Bremen in 2025.

However, the Austrian international has made just one appearance for the German outfit, with injuries a big reason behind that.

Once again, he faces yet another injury setback in Germany, and according to Bild, his continued absence is making it increasingly unlikely that Werder Bremen will trigger a permanent option for the defender.

A loan move benefited Leeds from a PSR perspective, though the option to make it a permanent deal was included for a fee in the region of £3.5million.

With that said, with Bremen unlikely to make a permanent move for the defender, it is likely to leave Leeds searching for yet another new club for him in the summer.

Daniel Farke was once angry at Max Wober for transfer decision

Wober joined Leeds in the Premier League, but his move to Monchengladbach coincided with their relegation back down to the Championship.

He wasnt the only one who jumped ship at the first available opportunity, though his decision to leave initially left Daniel Farke livid.

That was according to Peter Lindon, who claimed that Leeds boss was ‘angry’ that Wober was not willing to help his side get back to the top flight.

However, that relationship will be tested again in the summer, with Wober looking determined for an Elland Road return, though for how long remains unknown.
