Max Wober exit update emerges at Leeds United as Galatasaray eye last-minute transfer
Galatasaray are interested in signing Max Wober from Leeds United before the Turkish transfer deadline, according to Takvim.
The Turkish outlet reported on its website on Wednesday (11 September) that the European club is keen to secure the Austrian international on an initial loan deal with an option to make his stay in Turkey permanent.
Galatasary believe that Daniel Farke’s side value Wober in the region of £8.4million [€10million] having conducted price and performance-based research on several different defensive targets this season.
The Euro club’s management is believed to be in contact over a deal for the Leeds man as they also look to bolster their options at left-back following Adbulkerim Bardakci’s poor start to the season.
Will Max Wober exit Leeds United and Elland Road amid Galatasaray transfer interest?
While Wober is far from a popular figure at Elland Road currently having jumped ship following the Whites’ relegation from the Premier League, it isn’t clear whether or not Leeds can afford to let him leave.
The Austrian international has barely kicked a ball for Farke’s side in the opening weeks of the season having fallen behind Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk, but there is a clear lack of depth at centre-back currently.
Struijk missed the second half of last season through injury and while Ethan Ampadu filled in excellently out of position, the Welshman is much better in the middle of the park and it would be a blow for Leeds to lose him there.

Wober is the only real senior option waiting in the wings and therefore it feels unlikely that Leeds United would be willing to sanction his exit, especially when they themselves won’t be able to sign a replacement.
That is without even mentioning the feelings between the two clubs given their history together. Some sections of the fanbase would likely not be willing to accept Wober back at Elland Road if he spent a season on loan with Galatasaray.
