Max Wober exit update emerges at Leeds United amid Wilfried Gnonto transfer developments

Max Wober remains more likely to leave Leeds United ahead of the transfer deadline than Wilfried Gnonto, according to Graeme Bailey.

The journalist told Leeds United News on Friday (9 August) that he has heard that the “outstanding” Austrian international is still expected to leave Elland Road ahead of the end of the summer transfer window.

Daniel Farke’s side are not willing to let the defender walk away for nothing, however, so a transfer fee will be required to convince them to part ways with Wober in the coming weeks.

While speculation has surrounded Wober all summer, Farke insisted in his press conference ahead of the clash with Portsmouth the defender is eager to remain at Elland Road this season [Yorkshire Evening Post, 8 August].

Will Max Wober exit Leeds United amid transfer speculation?

The majority of Leeds United’s outgoing business will have already been completed this summer with Crysencio Summerville and Archie Gray both already departing Elland Road for big-money fees.

But when you’re in the Championship, every player has a price. The Whites simply aren’t in a position to turn down offers for their players, especially if they come from teams playing in one of Europe’s top-flight leagues.

Whether or not anyone will come forward with that sort of offer for Wober remains to be seen, but if someone does match Leeds’ valuation, they may be willing to consider his exit before the window slams shut.

Willy Gnonto Leeds United
Wilfried Gnonto scored nine goals and registered three assists for Leeds United last season

The Whites appear to be a bit more reluctant to allow Gnonto to depart as they have already turned down offers for his signature and have set their valuation higher than what most clubs are willing to pay.

In an ideal world, neither player would depart once the season gets underway. But if fans had to lose one of Wober or Gnonto, most would be more willing to see the Austrian depart.
