‘Max Wober exit sealed’ as Leeds progress on first new transfer for Premier League

Max Wober was never truly accepted again after returning to Leeds United from his loan at Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Daniel Farke is busy preparing Leeds for Premier League football again next season, a job that seems to get harder each year.

However, the 49ers will be ready to show the boss the financial backing to make the right additions.

Elland Road could see its first arrival very soon, and doing so, Wober could finally be set to seal a move he has desperately wanted going the other way.

Leeds United ready to seal Jaka Bijol transfer

With the summer transfer window underway, Farke has been looking at defensive options to strengthen his side for a relegation battle.

Udinese star Jaka Bijol is a prime target, and Leeds were initially quoted £16million to sign the defender, with official talks underway.

A deal seems to be getting closer, with Marco Conterio reporting via X (12 June) that negotiations between the two clubs are progressing.

It will cost the Whites more than initially expected, though, with a request of £17m to secure the transfer.

Farke’s men are seemingly eager, though, having increased their offer to get closer to the demands of his current side.

Feelings are said to be positive on both sides of the negotiation.

Bijol to be a solid addition for Leeds

The Whites already have some strong options at the back in the likes of Pascal Struijk and Joe Rodon, but adding competition and depth to the squad would be a certain benefit.

Furthermore, the step up to the Premier League can be difficult to manage for those who have been playing in the second tier, so someone with Serie A experience could well help massively.

Farke can rely on Bijol to play in the Premier League.

There is plenty of work to be done before the new campaign gets underway, but this would certainly be a solid place to start.

Meanwhile, if the signing would also allow Wober to leave West Yorkshire, it would surely be of benefit to all parties involved.

The 27-year-old has made no secret of his desire to leave Leeds behind this summer, in the hope of finding regular first-team minutes elsewhere.

With Ethan Ampadu as a makeshift option next in line, Bijol will be a critical addition.

Farke needs to ensure everyone in his side is fully invested in the project, and this could start the ball rolling to get into that position.
