Max Wober awaits Leeds United transfer plans as summer assumption made
Max Wober spent the last campaign away from Leeds United on loan at Werder Bremen, though injuries severely hampered his progress.
Leeds have had their fair few forgotten players over the year, but perhaps none as much so as Wober.
Despite moving to Elland Road back in 2023, the 28-year-old has made just 28 appearances for Leeds, 19 of which came the last time they were in the Premier League.
And to make matters worse, he's only made 59 appearances in total since then despite having had two seperate loan spells.
His most recent was with Werder Bremen, but injuries ensured he would make just three senior appearances, and one for their B-team.
As of right now, a return to Leeds is pending ahead of pre-season, but for Wober, he's unsure as to what will follow, though he does have a good indication.
What has Max Wober said about Leeds future?
Unsurprisingly, he shares a similar sentiment regarding his future as the majority of those involved with Leeds.
That being that it seems that he has no future at Elland Road.
However, the defender expects to be among the squad for pre-season, before awaiting the decision from the club.
In an interview with Sky Austria, he said: "I won’t be the most sought-after player at Leeds United anymore. That’s very clear to me, so yeah, we’ll see how it goes.
"I’m assuming that I’ll be back to the preparation normally.
"That’s why it will be very important for me to do the preparation again. Then we’ll see how it goes on, what Leeds’ plan is, what’s happening on the transfer market."
Wober's contract situation examined
Having signed a four-year deal when he made the move to Leeds in 2023, Wober will enter the final year of his contract later this month
All that means is that if the Whites are to part ways with him this summer, they are highly unlikely to receive a fee worth shouting home about.
Leeds paid £12million to sign the Austrian from Salzburg, with them able to count themselves lucky if they recoup even 10 per cent of that fee that this summer.
What once looked like it would be a solid piece of business, has since turned into a firepit for money.
