Max Aarons raves about ‘amazing’ Daniel Farke despite snubbing move to Leeds United

Max Aarons has raved about Daniel Farke despite snubbing a move to Leeds United in favour of a switch to Bournemouth over the summer.

Speaking on the BBC’s Football Focus on Saturday (11 November, 12:33pm), the 23-year-old said the Whites boss was “amazing” with him during their time together at Norwich City.

The English right-back, who turned down a transfer to Elland Road in August to join the Cherries for £9million, added that he always knew that the German was a “top manager”.

“I had a great manager there (at Norwich) in Daniel Farke, who is at Leeds now,” said Aarons. “He was amazing with me. He’d pull me for chats and say ‘we don’t care about what’s going on on the outside or whatever your agents telling you, whatever is going on, your main thing is here, we’ll look after you, we just want to see you progressing’.

“And he also said ‘don’t get caught up in anything other than what your day-to-day job is’. I always knew that he’s a top manager and he’s someone I’m really grateful for in my career. He was good for me at the time.”

Disappointing

It was incredibly disappointing for Leeds that they didn’t manage to secure a deal for Aarons as he was arguably the best right-back in the Championship.

It’s an area where the Whites have struggled a little bit this season, with a variety of different players being asked to fill the position on the right-hand side of the defence.

Farke would have loved to have signed the Englishman at Elland Road after the pair spent a number of years working together at Norwich.

Aarons would have added a bit more stability to the West Yorkshire side’s backline, while also providing an excellent attacking outlet going forward.

But his relationship with the German clearly wasn’t enough to tempt him into joining the club as the lure of Premier League football just proved too much to ignore.
