Leeds United transfer close as Matuesz Klich to jet out from England on Saturday
Mateusz Klich will jet out to the USA on Saturday (7 January) after the Leeds United midfielder agreed a move to join DC United, according to Tomasz Wlodarczyk.
The Meczyki journalist reported via his personal Twitter account on Thursday morning (5 January) that once Klich, 32, arrives in Washington DC, “he will complete the formalities before signing the contract and transfer to DC United”.
It is understood that Wayne Rooney really wanted to sign the Polish midfielder having tabled an offer for him weeks ago.
Klich made his 195th and final appearance for Leeds on Wednesday night (4 January).
There were sad scenes at the end where the former FC Twente midfielder burst into tears when he saw his teammates donning shirts that were a tribute to him.
Victor Orta and Jesse Marsch also joined Klich on the field at Elland Road, hugging the midfielder before he went off down to the tunnel to a guard of honour.
It’s the least Klich deserves.
This season, Marsch has failed to start him once in the Premier League.
And while Tyler Adams and Marc Roca have formed a good partnership in the centre of the midfield, Brenden Aaronson’s form has been off and Adam Forshaw has been chosen to start ahead of Klich too.
Leeds need to replace Klich.
But we’re worried that they won’t.
In other Leeds United news, Victor Orta could make moves to sign this MLS defender in either the summer or January and it won’t break the bank.
