Espanyol sensation Mateo Joseph is "very close" to landing at Leeds United to finalise his January transfer.

That's according to La Grada journalist Carlos Fanlo, who shared that it will cost the Whites up to £850,000.

Joseph has rejected a new deal with the Spanish club, and Fanlo detailed that he was offered similar to what Leeds will pay for his services.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Fanlo shared that the transfer is edging ever closer as the days pass.

"As we advance in La Grada Online, Mateo Joseph is very close to landing at Leeds in exchange for a million euros," he wrote.

"Curiously, the figure that he asked to renew with Espanyol."

Landing.

Now, this is most likely metaphorically seen as though we haven't seen anywhere that a bid has been accepted for Joseph.

Given that he has now been dumped through training and is forced to watch matches from the stands, though, it is only a matter of time.

The deal won't be able to officially go through until the start of January in a couple of months time, but Leeds have made their move early.

There is very good reason for that given that the likes of Barcelona, Manchester City and Liverpool have all been strongly linked with the 17-year-old this week.

Personal terms are said to have been accepted, so once the fee between the clubs has been, Joseph should be ready to jet into the United Kingdom to officially put pen-to-paper on his move.
