Youngster Marley Wilson was spotted signing a contract after Leeds United announced that he had penned a two-year scholarship deal at the club.

He was one of nine players that the club deemed good enough to hand short-term contract extensions to as they look to build for the future.

Apart from improving their footballing ability, this scholarship programme offers a variety of educational programmes including the BTEC diploma and A Levels, to help extend their skillset both on and off the pitch.

Via Twitter, Wilson shared the news with an emoji.

Good news

Leeds are committed to building their squad for the future and Thursday's news only solidifies that stance.

Ten of the top academy talents, including Archie Gray have committed their short-term future to the Whites and we're expecting to hear more of them in the coming years.

Marcelo Bielsa knows just how important having good young players are as last season, he had to turn to a number of players due to injury concerns with the first team.

Thus far Marsh hasn't had to turn to the academy so much, but in a long season especially given the current postponements and the World Cup, he may have injury concerns towards the latter half of the season.

We're not sure if any of these 10 players will actually get a chance in the first team this season, but if they do Gray is certainly one of them.

We will also be keeping our eyes on Wilson as he's another youngster with a lot of promise and he could be spoken about in the same way as Gray has been over the last few months.

Interesting times ahead for the Leeds academy.
