Marc Roca to undergo medical in days to quit Leeds United, will then jet out to pre-season camp in Germany

Leeds United midfielder Marc Roca is set to undergo a medical with Real Betis ahead of a loan move to the La Liga side, according to Estadio Deportivo.

It is reported (June 28) that Betis will have an option to buy the Spaniard following the loan and hope to hold the medical on July 4, with Roca set to join up with his new teammates at pre-season training in Germany.

The former Bayern Munich man joined Leeds last summer and made 32 league appearances in their relegation-ending season.

More Leeds departures

Following their relegation from the Premier League, Leeds are reportedly set for an influx in player departures including the highly-sought after Wilfried Gnonto and Robin Koch.

Roca, 26, is the latest name on this list and seeks a move away from the Championship side to revitalise his career at the Estadio Benito Villamarín.

This move will suit Manuel Pelligrini’s side too. Betis play very quick possession-based football which will suit Roca’s player profile.

According to FBRef, the Spaniard is in the 82nd percentile for progressive passes per 90 (6.69), meaning he is more than capable of facilitating Betis’ rapid build-up play and unleashing the likes of Nabil Fekir and Borja Iglesias.

He is also defensively strong from the defensive midfielder position with his 2.57 tackles per 90 making adept at breaking up the opposition’s play, reclaiming possession and launching counter attacks.

However, Betis are still waiting for player departures before they can facilitate the move. William Carvalho is yet to leave the Spanish side and complete his reported move to Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr [Foot Mercato].

Roca would come in as Carvalho’s replacement in the defensive midfield position, so the delay in the Portugal international’s sale has in turn delayed the Leeds man’s move.

Betis hope that Roca’s move won’t be delayed so their pre-season preparations are not disrupted.
