Many Leeds fans thrilled with report on ace who is 'Saiz replacement we have been begging for'

Leeds United fans are thrilled with a report which says that the club is interested in signing Luke Freeman from Sheffield United this month.

The Sun on Sunday claimed on January 5 [print edition, page 61] that the Whites are plotting a “shock” swoop to sign the 27-year-old midfielder from their Yorkshire rivals this month.

Freeman only joined the Blades in a £5million deal from QPR in the summer but is understood to be out of favour at Bramall Lane and both clubs “hope to do a deal”.

Freeman has made just nine Premier League appearances for Sheffield United this term and Leeds are in need of extra options in their midfield.

The former QPR ace can play on the left-wing, as a central midfielder or as an attacking midfielder, so he is certainly someone who is versatile enough to please Marcelo Bielsa.

He is also experienced in the Championship, which is perhaps the main reason why Leeds are looking at him.

Despite not shining in the top-flight, Freeman has 163 second-tier appearances to his name and last season at QPR he was perhaps in the best form of his career.

It is no shock that so many Leeds fans on Twitter are excited by the prospect of signing the Bramall Lane outcast.

Some even say he could be the club’s new Samuel Saiz.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites could sell this 24-year-old permanently in January.
