Leeds United could terminate Manor Solomon loan early as Tottenham return question emerges
Leeds United might decide to send Manor Solomon back to Tottenham in January after an underwhelming start to his loan move, Jonny Buchan has suggested.
The BBC journalist raised the prospect of the move being terminated early on Don’t Go To Bed Just Yet on 28 October following another quiet outing in the goalless draw at Bristol City on 26 October, asking whether Daniel Farke might prefer to use that chunk of the wage bill on a replacement option.
Solomon, 25, has made five appearances for the Whites so far while missing four league games with a hamstring injury, which saw him fall behind the likes of Willy Gnonto and Largie Ramazani in the pecking order.
Buchan said (15m): “You wonder with Solomon whether he’s going to be able to get that time, and then you question do you keep him? Or do you send him back?
“Then use that spot, I’m not saying they’re on the limit of their loans, they’re not, but do you use that pot that you’ve used money-wise to get someone else who can maybe have a bigger impact?”
He later added: “With the Ramazani injury as well now it might be the case that they that position is one that they have to make sure they’ve got covered, and if you’ve got somebody in the building covering it then you may as well keep giving them more time. You’ve already worked with them a few months.”
Daniel Farke to send another Leeds United loanee back to Spurs?
Farke has shown he isn’t afraid to cut short a temporary move that isn’t working out after doing just that with another Tottenham man in full-back Djed Spence last year.
The right-back was another who picked up an early injury at Elland Road and despite a run of starts through December he returned to Spurs in the New Year.
Solomon got an assist in his first start against Hull City on 31 August but has flattered to deceive for the most part since then, while his fitness issues have caused concern given the record he arrived with.
Dan James has also missed games with injury and now Ramazani has been ruled out for up to six weeks [BBC Sport, 25 October] but when all four are fit it wouldn’t be a stretch to say Israel international Solomon is fourth choice.

If he can stay fit he has a big opportunity to cement himself in Farke’s plans with Belgian Ramazani now out, but if his fortunes continue as they are much will depend on how those around him are doing.
Jaidon Anthony was unable to make a huge impact on loan from Bournemouth throughout last season, but it wasn’t a massive issue when Crysencio Summerville and James were on fire, and Willy Gnonto was providing solid back up.
But if the question has already been raised that the Spurs man might not be required for the full term it might be the second season running where a North London to West Yorkshire move hasn’t worked out as planned.
