Manchester City want massive Harry Gray transfer, Leeds could bank £40m

Manchester City are interested in a blockbuster move for Leeds United starlet Harry Gray.

Gray signed a new deal at Leeds earlier in the season to end any transfer links away from Elland Road.

The forward is seen as arguably the brightest prospect at Thorp Arch, with Tottenham showing interest in Gray already this year.

The brother of Archie Gray, Harry is a Leeds fan and has already made his first-team debut, but is yet to make a Premier League appearance.

The high potential of Gray has already resulted in transfer links elsewhere, with Manchester City the latest to throw their cap in the ring.

Gray is central to a fight between England and Scotland over landing the allegiance of the youngster on the international stage.

That sort of battle could soon be replicated between clubs as the teenager continues to drum up transfer interest away from Yorkshire.

Alan Nixon has reported via his Patreon on 21 December that Man City are planning a deal to sign Gray from Leeds in a “massive deal”.

The 17-year-old may be central to a £40million price tag from the Whites due to his status as a future starter in LS11.

He has been on the Citizens’ radar for some time, and there is now an expectation for a bid, with potentially a swap deal in the pipeline.

Kalvin Phillips

Kalvin Phillips has been namedropped by Nixon, but his current wages at the Etihad are seen as a “major problem in any possible return”.

The Englishman would be welcomed back with open arms, but it feels unlikely as part of a deal for such a bright talent.

Leeds must keep hold of Gray at all costs

The prospect of landing £40m for a player who has only featured once under Daniel Farke is surely attractive to the Leeds hierarchy.

That sort of fee could be distributed throughout the squad and provide improvement in January ahead of the second half of the season.

That may be the case, but having a talent as elite as Gray in your academy is something that comes around once in a blue moon (ironically).

The teen could be worth double that £40m someday, so letting him go at this stage could prove to be a massive mistake.

Leeds have the future of their forward line ready in waiting, so they can’t just bow down to Man City this season.
