Manchester United are not interested in signing Leeds United ace Raphinha despite speculation linking the winger with a move to Old Trafford.
Sportitalia journalist Gianluigi Longari had reported that Man United and Liverpool were keen on the 24-year-old, who’s proven a hit since joining Leeds from Rennes in October.
However, Man United news website Stretty News has now reported that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer “has absolutely no interest in pursuing a move for Raphinha”.
Stretty News adds: “A close source has confirmed that the reports linking the Red Devils with Raphinha are nowhere near reality, with speculation nothing more than media hype.”
Speculation no more than complimentary
At this stage, there’s very little chance that Leeds will be considering selling Raphinha.
He’s been in sensational form in the Premier League since arriving at Elland Road from Rennes in October, scoring four goals and supplying five assists in 18 Premier League appearances.
We haven’t seen a winger like him at Elland Road for a long time.
Raphinha has the ability to glide past defenders effortlessly while looking explosive and elegant at the same time.
The Brazilian also had a wicked shot on him and an eye for a pass, which makes him a perfect modern winger who likes to cut inside and score goals as well as assisting them.
It’s no shock that teams like Liverpool and Man United are now being linked with Raphinha. That’s what happens when a player does well.
We’re just glad to see there’s nothing in the report linking him with Old Trafford.
For once, we find ourselves absolutely delighted to read something on a Man United-centric news website.
Man United fans will no doubt want Raphinha but he’s ours for them to be envy of for the foreseeable future.
In other Leeds United news, this player has confirmed he’s joined the Whites from Liverpool.
