Luis Sinisterra to Feyenoord chances ‘Really Nil’ amid Leeds United release clause problems

Luis Sinisterra is unlikely to return to Feyenoord this summer from Leeds because he is too expensive, according to Voetbal Nieuws.

Writing on their website (17 August), the Dutch news outlet report that journalist Lars Teunissen believes a deal is not easy to do due to the complications around the Colombian wingers’ release clause.

A loan is no longer an option and his current fee is too expensive, with English sources saying it has expired entirely, and because of this the chances of a return to Rotterdam are rated at “really nil”.

“However, this possible transfer does not appear to be easy,” he said.

“His current employer, Leeds United, is only allowed to rent out one player due to a construction and Sinisterra does not seem to be eligible for that.

“So then it should be about buying. Sinisterra has a relegation clause in his contract. All Leeds players have that, but Feyenoord cannot afford it. Then negotiations will have to take place, but the chance is really nil that Leeds will let him go for an amount that Feyenoord can and wants to pay.”

One bites the dust

While there are still clubs sniffing around our players there is a chance they could leave before the window closes, regardless of whether they have a release clause or not.

The same can be said for Sinisterra, but thankfully there is now seemingly one less team in the race for his signature because we can now set our own price expectations.

The release clauses in everyone’s contract were most definitely on the low side, but the club have made next to no money on sales this summer because most of the loan options have been taken up instead.

Sinisterra could still be the final option to go that way as the club have one spot open, but it would mean Feyenoord have to pay his wages in full and that seems to be an issue for them.

It’s not over until it’s over, and with the player pushing for a move and training away from the group it’s still on the cards, but a stay at Elland Road is definitely growing in chances as each day passes.
