Luis Sinisterra return on cards at Leeds United despite controversial Elland Road exit

Dean Jones has claimed Luis Sinisterra could make a return to Elland Road after his loan spell with Bournemouth despite falling out with Leeds United during his exit.

The Colombian departed Elland Road on deadline day in the summer in a loan deal which saw Jaidon Anthony join Daniel Farke’s squad in a late swap deal with Bournemouth.

His exit was shrouded in legal disputes, with an initial despite over a contract obligation owed to the winger followed up by questions surrounding a deal sheet after the move failed to reach a conclusion before the deadline.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT on 14 January, Jones reported: “They’ve got this situation around Sinisterra to deal with because they have still got him on their books. Although he is out on loan, I’m told that he could have a future at Leeds.

“I’ve seen people playing this down because of fallouts that he has had in the past at the club, but I don’t think that matters and Sinisterra is still good enough to have a future at Leeds.”

Nobody would have expected this

Complications surrounding the deal had understandably left a sour taste in the mouth of many at Elland Road, with Farke and the 49ers likely among them, and nobody would have felt a return was on the cards for the winger.

It was also reported in the summer [Yorkshire Evening Post, 2 September] that Bournemouth had the option to buy inserted into the loan deal which would see Leeds receive in excess of the £20million they had paid to bring him to Yorkshire in the first place.

However, Sinisterra has started just two Premier League games since his move to the South Coast club, coming on as a substitute in ten games and picking up two goals in that time while averaging just 30 minutes per game. [Sofascore]

That seems to have opened up the possibility for a stunning return to Elland Road at the end of his loan deal, although there are more than likely several bridges that will have to be rebuilt, and trust that will have to be earned if he wishes to remain a part of the long-term thinking under Farke.

In other Leeds United news, a billionaire-owned club may bid just half of Leeds’ asking price for a transfer move.
