Luis Sinisterra Feyenoord return in doubt as Leeds United hindered by FIFA rules

Leeds United may not be able to loan out Luis Sinisterra after they reportedly hit their limit set by FIFA, according to Mikos Gouka.

Writing on his personal Twitter account (14 August), the Dutch journalist reports that Feyenoord were keen to sign their former winger on loan but they were informed by the Whites that a temporary switch wouldn’t be possible anymore.

After loaning out Max Wober, Robin Koch, Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen, Diego Llorente, Marc Roca and now Jack Harrison, FIFA’s limit of seven loans has been hit and Sinisterra would be too expensive on a permanent deal.

“Yesterday they told Feyenoord that Leeds is allowed to rent out 7 players and that they have already reached that number and that guys like Gnonto, Sinisterra, Summerville can only be sold,” he wrote.

“I didn’t know those regulations, but as it was described: only buy. then too expensive.”

Confusion

There seems to be some confusion about the FIFA rule for loans and until it gets clarified by someone, these rumours could rumble on.

FIFA’s rules seem to state that clubs are only allowed to have seven international loans per season, and as it stands Leeds only have six as Harrison went to Everton.

But a loan within the same country is specified and it’s unknown as it stands whether that move actually took up the final spot of Leeds allowance or not.

If it has, then Sinisterra will only leave if someone pays his release clause for a permanent exit just like Chelsea almost did for Tyler Adams. If not, a loan exit still has potential.

But with so many players linked to leave between now and the end of the window, it will be very interesting to see what happens and how the club react to replacing them as more exits will surely happen.
