Lucas Perri faces ‘hell’ at Leeds United with transfer agreement already on cards

Lucas Perri has not enjoyed a good start to life at Leeds United.

Leeds signed Perri from Lyon after promotion to the Premier League, and the Brazilian started solidly enough at Elland Road.

But as before with the likes of Illan Meslier, mistakes started to creep in.

Karl Darlow currently has the number one shirt, but that has been swapped a couple of times between him and Perri already this season.

Now, it may not be long until another new keeper is looked at.

Lucas Perri is already in hell at Leeds United

After a solid season in Ligue 1 with Lyon, many in France expected Perri to be a massive hit in the Premier League for the Whites.

That has not been the case.

That hasn’t been missed by the French media, with Foot Mercato describing Perri’s current predicament as a “terrible descent into hell.”

They go on to suggest that Perri is already on the way out of LS11, with the possibility of a new goalkeeper being signed if Leeds remain in the Premier League.

A “top-class” option is said to be wanted, and it’s over to Leeds’ current options to prove that isn’t needed heading into next season.

Has Lucas Perri been that bad?

Despite the narrative around them, Perri may have actually outperformed Darlow.

Darlow has conceded 5.1 more goals than expected so far this season, with the Brazilian conceding only 2.2 more than expected, via Sofascore.

Perri has made more saves and delivered more accurate passes, but he has featured six more times in the Premier League so far in this campaign.

Describing Perri’s time so far in Leeds as hell appears over the top, but the former Lyon man would not have expected to be dropped so soon, and twice.

Daniel Farke is very loyal to his players, so unless Darlow does something unbelievably bad, the Welsh international is likely to continue.

That being said, with Birmingham up next in the FA Cup on Sunday, Perri will get a chance to claim his spot back at St Andrew’s with a commanding display.

Should he do that, things should start looking up again.
