Luca Thomas confirms Leeds United arrival after Manchester City exit

Young winger Luca Thomas is now a Leeds United player after leaving Manchester City.

Thomas, 16, took to his personal Instagram account on Tuesday to upload an image of himself putting pen to paper on a scholarship deal at Elland Road.

He’s one of 10 new scholars at Leeds and captioned his Instagram post saying: “New beginnings.”

Another one through the door

It’s been a busy summer for Leeds at all levels of the club.

In the first team, we’ve seen Ezgjan Alioski and Barry Douglas leave for good with Kiko Casilla going out on loan. Jack Harrison’s joined permanently and Junior Firpo has arrived from Barcelona.

For the Under-23s, Amari Miller and Sean McGurk have signed from Birmingham and Wigan respectively.

Now, Thomas has become one of many young players to arrive at Elland Road and possibly join up with the Under-18s ahead of next season.

The Crewe-born teenager had spent 10 years on the books at Man City prior to joining Leeds officially this week.

He took to his Instagram account several weeks ago to confirm he’d be leaving the Etihad to head to Leeds but clearly the deal wasn’t official until now.

Let’s hope Thomas can shine at Leeds and go on to have a great career, whether that’s with us or someone else because we’re fully aware of how difficult it is for these young players to break through at Elland Road.

We have great facilities and great coaches, so he has the best chance possible where he is now.
