Phil Hay is the one journalist that every Leeds United fan trusts with transfer news.

His contacts around the club are unsurpassed so when he says a deal is "looking good", fans get excited.

His latest transfer update suggests that Leeds could be homing in on their second transfer of the window – and the first for the senior squad.

Ian Poveda might not be the striker everyone's desperate to land but the Man City winger is in-demand, with Serie A Torino also after his signature.

If Leeds can beat the team who are ninth in the Italian top-flight to the 19-year-old, it shows the lure of signing for Leeds and playing under Bielsa.

Hay's tweet comes after the Daily Mail said that Leeds were close to landing Poveda, with an agreement in place with Man City.

That would just leave the player himself to sign on the dotted line and there's increased hope that could happen now in time for the game against Millwall on Tuesday, especially after BBC journalist Adam Pope said Poveda should be signing later this week.

Here are some positive reactions from Leeds fans – there haven't been a lot of these in the past few days...

There are still some fans who can read a negative into anything, though.

One fan had his tongue in his cheek when he said that Poveda looking good "implies the others aren't", while another pleaded for a striker update.

Let's not forget that Leeds were on the lookout for three players this window. Elia Caprile has signed. If Leeds land Poveda, they're two-thirds of the way there.

That's more than a glass-half-full, lads.
