Liverpool open to selling Neco Williams, Leeds United are interested

Liverpool are open to selling right-back Neco Williams if the right offer is tabled amid interest from Leeds United, according to The Athletic.

The news website reports that Aston Villa, Burnley and Southampton are also genuinely interested in the 20-year-old Wales international, who played at left-back against Italy yesterday (Sunday).

The Athletic journalist James Pearce claims that Liverpool are expecting Williams to want to quit Anfield this summer and will demand at least £10mllion for the Wrexham-born full-back.

Versatile new full-back?

Williams is a right-back by trade but as soon on Sunday, he is able to play at left-back too and that could be very handy for Leeds.

Luke Ayling is our undisputed first choice right-back but who do we have to fill in after him other than Stuart Dallas, who has done better in the midfield in the last year?

And the same goes at left-back, even if Ezgjan Alioski stays, who else do we have other than youngster Leif Davis and, again, Dallas?

We could really do with a bit of extra depth in both positions and although Williams is young at the age of 20, he is someone who has a fair whack of experience that can really help Leeds.

Last season, Williams made 14 first team appearances for Liverpool in all competitions, playing in the Premier League and Champions League in the process.

He was very much behind Trent Alexander-Arnold in the pecking order and is bound to have learned a lot from the Liverpool star.

Williams also has 13 caps for Wales and is currently playing a key role in them in a major international tournament.

He would be a very good addition, in our books. And for £10million, that doesn’t sound like it would be too bad a deal for the Whites to complete.
