Liverpool ‘Definitely Like’ Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville as transfer mooted
Liverpool “definitely like” Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville ahead of the summer transfer window, but they may not make a move for him, according to David Lynch.
Speaking on Anfield Index’s YouTube channel (29 April), the journalist reports that the 22-year-old Dutch winger is someone that the Reds have looked at, with new incoming manager Arne Slot reportedly “wild” about him.
But Liverpool are yet to decide on their summer transfer targets and according to Lynch they could yet decide against a move, although he says he has “no doubts that Liverpool like him”.
“Yeah, I’ve no doubts that Liverpool like him. He’s someone who’s been prolific Championship-wise and done really well,” he said.
“I’m always very wary about links that come out this early. So many players Liverpool get linked to miles ahead of the summer.
“Obviously he’s young, it looks like, you know, if you get a young player who’s doing that, putting up those sorts of numbers, they’ll feel like he can make that extra step.
“Liverpool definitely like him but whether that translates into into going to sign him, we’re not really sure at the moment.”
Will Crysencio Summerville leave Leeds United this summer?
The reason the Whites are in the position they’re currently in this season is simply because of the form Summerville has shown in front of goal, and as Lynch says he is clearly ready to step up to the next level.
A club like Liverpool would be a huge step up for him on an individual and personal level, because he would likely get a huge pay-hike from their billionaire owners and would be playing Champions League football.
But the 49ers are keen to offer him a new long-term contract at Elland Road, and if they can secure promotion back to the top-flight that will stand them in great stead in negotiations.
Whether Summerville opts to move on or not will ultimately be down to him, with two years remaining on his current deal it could be the last chance of a big payday for Leeds.
But promotion will be a big boost to keeping him at the club, and if Liverpool aren’t entirely convinced that they want him then that surely leaves a window open to get a deal done quickly to keep him around.
