Liverpool and Newcastle still in chase for Leeds United ace Crysencio Summerville

Liverpool have not walked away from the pursuit of Leeds United attacker Crysencio Summerville with Newcastle also keen, according to Jacque Talbot.

The journalist who has been featured in the Times and Guardian claims that £35million will be enough to sign the Dutchman this summer.

Liverpool have been keen on the 22-year-old since January and have him on their radar under new manager Arne Slot as well.

Via Twitter, Talbot wrote: “Can confirm, absolutely nothing to suggest that Liverpool have walked away from Summerville at this stage. As revealed, interest has been the from Reds since January. Newcastle remain keen, too. £35m or so should do it.”

Leeds United may find it hard to retain Crysencio Summerville’s services

Summerville’s impressive performance in the Championship, where he was named Player of the Season, has attracted significant interest from top flight outfits and that’s unlikely to go away.

These clubs can offer Summerville the opportunity to play in the Premier League, which is a higher level than the Championship.

The Whites’ failure to secure promotion back to the Premier League means they may need to sell some of their top players to balance the books and comply with financial fair play rules.

Summerville, being one of their most valuable assets, could be sold to generate funds.

The £35million valuation for the 22-year-old indicates that Leeds could receive a substantial fee for his transfer, which might be hard to turn down considering their financial situation.

It remains to be seen whether or not any of the two clubs mentioned or any other side can pay what Leeds want this summer.
