Liam Cooper sends four-word message to Diego Llorente as he quits Leeds United

Liam Cooper has sent his best wishes to Diego Llorente after he left Leeds United to join Roma on transfer deadline day on Tuesday.

Llorente, 29, has joined Roma on an initial loan deal until the end of the season. However, as reported by BBC Sport on 31 January, the centre-back’s move to the Italian capital is “with a view to a permanent deal”.

It’s likely that Llorente’s played his final game for Leeds and captain Cooper, as well as some of his Elland Road teammates, have reacted to the Spaniard’s move to Roma on Instagram.

Cooper said: “All the best, bro.”

Junior Firpo said: “We’ll miss you, Diego! All the luck in the world.”

Rodrigo replied with raised hands emoji and you can also see in the image above that ex-Leeds ace Gaetano Berardi likes Llorente’s farewell message to the Whites on Instagram.

All the best

Llorente hasn’t had an amazing time at Leeds.

His first couple of seasons at Elland Road were plagued with injury issues but once he did overcome them, he put in some really good performances.

But this season, he’s been woeful.

Llorente’s been slow, lacked composure and been terrible at communicating at set-pieces.

He’s been our worst centre-back this season, unfortunately, and with the arrival of Maximilian Wober, it was a no-brainer to get rid of someone.

Eyebrows were raised when Llorente signed a new contract in December but it was seemingly a masterstroke by Victor Orta, who’s managed to get more money from selling the centre-back than he would have done before.

Leeds now have Cooper, Robin Koch, Wober, Pascal Struijk and deadline-day signing Diogo Monteiro as centre-back options for the rest of the season while Luke Ayling can also do a job there.

We’re well stocked and Llorente has a chance to get his career back on track in Italy.

We wish him all the best.
