Liam Cooper approach made after Leeds United contract developments
Blackburn Rovers have spoken to Liam Cooper amid recent speculation about his future at Leeds United, according to Alan Nixon.
The journalist reported on 11 July via his Patreon that the Lancashire club had contacted the Scotsman amid their quest for defensive reinforcement this summer.
The 32-year-old is yet to extend his Elland Road stay despite an offer being on the table, making him a free agent since 1 July.
Should Leeds United let Liam Cooper exit Elland Road this summer
One of the main areas within Leeds’ team that needs bolstering is its defence.
Joe Rodon has already been brought back to the club permanently following his successful loan spell with the Whites last term.
Whilst players such as Diego Llorente, Archie Gray, and Jamie Shackleton have all departed.
Although the West Yorkshire outfit received a cool £40million for Gray, Llorente was sold for pennies in comparison.
The overall fee for the Spaniard is reported to be worth around £2.74m [Estadio Deportivo, 10 July] and will come to the club in three separate instalments.

This fee is minimal but will no doubt be put towards their next recruitment, should there be one.
Cooper has been a stellar player for Leeds over his career and unless injured, has always been a player that they could call upon if needed.
As he is now entering the latter stages of his career, it feels as if the Whites would be better off spending his weekly wage on a younger prospect who could be around for seasons to come.
In other Leeds news, Brighton have made their final decision on Crysencio Summerville.
