Leicester change transfer plans as Leeds United want new defender now

Leeds United are keeping a close eye on PEC Zwolle defender Anselmo García MacNulty, according to Voetbal International.

The Dutch outlet details that Leicester were also interested in the young defender, but promotion has changed their transfer plans.

Leeds have now had the door opened to them regarding signing the youngster as they failed to achieve promotion this season.

How Garcia Mac Nulty would fit into Leeds’ squad

This summer, with Stuart Dallas and Luke Ayling both departing the club, the Whites are somewhat lacking in depth for their full-back roles.

Granted, the likes of Junior Firpo, Jamie Shackleton and Sam Byram all still ply their trade for the West Yorkshire outfit.

However, Firpo is the only natural left-back available to Daniel Farke ahead of the 2024/25 term.

This means that, without signing someone in the summer, the club will be severely lacking in depth.

Hence, why the addition of MacNulty could be an ideal acquisition for Leeds this summer. The left-back plays in the Eredivisie for PEC Zwolle and appeared 32 times for the club this season.

Although his favoured position is centre-back, he has played at left-back for the vast majority of the 2023/24 season.

This versatility alongside his composure on the ball makes him an ideal candidate for Farke’s team.
