Left-field signing on the cards at Leeds United as Victor Orta tipped to pull rabbit out of hat
Victor Orta has been tipped to pull a rabbit out of a hat in the January transfer window for Leeds United.
Mirror journalist David Anderson has mooted the possibility of a “left-field” signing by the Whites this month.
It is understood that Marcelo Bielsa likes Reading midfielder John Swift as Leeds look into signing new players to allay their ongoing injury issues at Elland Road.
It doesn’t seem likely that Leeds will be able to sign Swift this month unless they offer the 26-year-old a hefty sum of money.
Reading may well be ready to sell as Swift’s contract expires in the summer but the central midfielder will know that if he sees out the season, he can bag himself more money if he moves as a free agent.
Of course, Leeds have shelved transfer targets in the past – we saw that with Daniel James in the summer – so Swift could be someone who’s revisited in the summer if Bielsa likes him that much.
But that’s no good for Leeds right now. Bielsa needs players yesterday.
Our squad has been decimated by injuries and other issues this season so Bielsa needs to add some serious strength in depth.
The midfield position was an issue in the summer and it wasn’t addressed so that’s an area we cannot come up short in this month.
Leeds’ status as a Premier League club could under serious threat come May so we need to see an improvement straight away.
In other Leeds United news, this senior player is on his way out of Elland Road in a huge New Year’s Day shock.
