Leeds winger Crysencio Summerville loan to Hamburg hits ‘snag’ – report

Leeds winger Crysencio Summerville’s proposed loan move to Hamburg has hit a ‘snag’ over his wages, according to German outlet Kicker.

The exciting Dutch winger is expected to leave the Whites on loan before the deadline on Monday night as he looks for regular first-team football.

It’s believed that Bundesliga 2 side Hamburg are leading the race for his signature, but Kicker are now reporting that the deal has hit a ‘snag’ over wages.

They say that Hamburg cannot afford to pay Summerville’s wages in full, and they face competition for his signature from Dutch clubs.

Hamburg would be keen to add an option to buy Summerville for next season too, as they look to replace their outgoing winger Faride Alidou.

Shame

If Summerville can’t get a move this winter then it would be a real shame for his career.

Right now the young winger is clearly at a level where youth football is more of a detriment than a benefit, so regular minutes in men’s football can only be a good thing.

That won’t come at Elland Road with so many senior players ahead of him, but there is a clear pathway for him to make a name for himself at the club in the future.

If he can go away for six months and play regularly to impress, there is no reason he can’t return next year and push for a regular place in the Leeds squad.

Here’s hoping that Hamburg, or someone else, can sort something out before Monday’s deadline or it looks like another six months wasted.
