Leeds want to sign Norwich winger Todd Cantwell - report
Leeds United are one of six teams involved in the race to sign Norwich winger Todd Cantwell in January, according to The Sun.
The Whites are in need of boosting their squad this month after suffering from several injury problems and poor form throughout the campaign so far.
With injuries to Patrick Bamford, Rodrigo and Tyler Roberts in attacking positions, The Sun have now claimed that the Elland Road club are interested in bringing Cantwell to the club.
Cantwell has found himself out of favour at Carrow Road after injury and unavailability this season and it’s been reported that they would be willing to accept around £15m for the 23-year-old who has just 18 months left on his deal.
Leeds face competition from Liverpool, Newcastle, Tottenham, Leicester and Roma to get a deal done but will be hopeful that regular football can tempt him.
When Norwich were in the Premier League two seasons ago, Cantwell was one of the better performers as they were immediately relegated again.
He was expected to move that summer only for COVID-19 to rock the market and Premier League clubs opted against it, but he shone once again to help the club get promoted and saw himself labelled ‘incredible’ by Dean Ashton.
This year though he has struggled for game time and a decision has been made to allow him to leave if an acceptable offer comes in.
With his excellent energy, dribbling, passing skills and a good eye for goal, Cantwell would be an excellent fit in the Leeds lineup under Marcelo Bielsa.
A new environment is likely to be a big thing for him, so he can get his mind clear and start fresh while Leeds will be welcoming a top young talent to the team that can help them turn their season around as they look to survive.
