Leeds want to sign Mainz star Anthony Caci as cut-price transfer news emerges
Leeds United have recently been linked with a move for Mainz star Anthony Caci, ahead of what could be a busy summer transfer window for the newly-promoted side.
The Whites will surely need several additions in order to compete for survival on their Premier League return, with the gap between the top tier and the Championship growing larger by the season.
If Leeds’ pursuit of Caci is successful, then the Frenchman will become the first new signing of the summer for Daniel Farke to work with.
The 27-year-old notched an impressive seven assists from the Mainz backline this term, and it’s clear to see why he is being linked with a move to the Premier League.

Caci could be available for a cut-price fee
The former Strasbourg man is three years into his stint in the Bundesliga, but that looks as though it could be about to draw to a close this summer.
Caci is approaching the final year of his contract at the MEWA Arena, and as a result, could be available for a cut-price fee, according to the print edition of The Sunday People (8 June, pg. 58).
He can play as a wing-back or full-back on either flank, as well as possessing the capability to play a more central role in a backline, and that versatility is making him an extremely attractive proposition for other clubs.
Leeds seem strong in their interest in Caci, but look set to face competition from Fulham for his signature, as well as Borussia Dortmund and Rennes.
Leeds need plenty of additions
Regardless of the fact they won the Championship last time out, Leeds won’t want to stand still in the market this summer. Plenty of investment is required if promoted clubs are to compete in the top tier and Leeds will be no different.
There is a relative lack of top-level experience within Leeds’ ranks at present, at this is something which simply must be addressed in order to boost their hopes of consolidating their spot in the Premier League.
Their pursuit of Caci could become even more important if Junior Firpo’s situation continues to play out in worrying fashion for the West Yorkshire outfit.
Firpo’s importance in the side could be hard to replace, but securing a deal to bring Caci to Elland Road would go some of the way towards restoring that creativity from the full-back positions.
